Plastic Dentures

When many teeth are missing then often a plastic partial denture is the denture of choice. It is easy to add further teeth to this type of denture and they are relatively inexpensive. Their disadvantage is that they rely on suction for most of their retention and therefore need to cover quite a large surface of the mouth.

Plastic dentures often take all their support from the gums rather than the teeth. Because of this in some instances they can pull the gums away from the remaining teeth. This can lead to further tooth loss and ultimately a much larger denture.
